How to Use Satin Pillowcases
Using Satin Pillowcases:
Clean Your New Pillowcases
Remove your satin pillowcases from their packaging. Then machine wash the pillowcases in cold water with mild liquid detergent on a gentle cycle. Tumble dry on low heat, adding a dryer sheet to prevent static.
Cover Your Pillows
Slip the satin pillowcases over your bed pillows just as you would with cotton cases. Place the pillows on your bed, either atop the blankets, if you want to use them decoratively, or beneath the blankets.
Sleep with the Satin Pillowcases on Your Pillows Every Night
Wash the pillowcases weekly or as often as needed, following the care instruction above.
Prevent wrinkles in your extra satin pillowcases by storing them properly when you aren’t using them. Do this by folding them and storing them flat in a drawer or a linen closet. If you have several pieces of satin bedding, fold it all and place it together in a satin pillowcase for an organized look. Add a scented sachet to the drawer to keep pillowcases fresh-scented.
Satin pillowcases may retain their beauty longer if washed separately from rougher fabrics. If your pillowcases need ironing, turn them inside out and iron them on low heat without steam.
If you spill something on your satin pillowcases, simply soak them in cool water and then launder. Don’t toss them into the dryer until you are sure they are clean; the heat can set stains.
Makeup, especially if it is oil-based, may stain satin. Wash makeup off your face before using your pillowcases.
