Closet your Down Comforter

These heavier options are necessary for cold winter nights, but they can make a summer night miserable. Instead, opt for some of the lighter options listed below. Before putting your winter bedding into storage, wash it and fold a dryer sheet into it so it will be fresh and ready to use in fall.
Choose Materials that Breathe
After putting your heavy bedding away, look for sheets, blankets, and pillowcases made from natural fibers like cotton, bamboo, and silk. These materials breathe much better than synthetic options, and they also wick moisture much quicker. Cotton is the most popular and easy to find, but both bamboo and silk are more breathable. Wash your Sheets Regularly in Summer
In summer, you naturally sweat more during both the day and night, which means that your sheets will see an increase in body oils. Oil buildup can make sheets feel hotter and more humid than they normally would, increasing your sleep temperature. To avoid warm, clammy bedding, wash your sheets more often in the summertime. Depending on how quickly your bedding gets soiled, you may want to wash it as often as every three to four days. In addition to keeping your sheets cooler, regular washings will also keep them smelling fresh. If you can’t find the time to wash all your sheets that often, frequently washing just your pillowcases can drastically improve your summer sleep experience.
