Measuring Any Window for Blinds
Before you buy new blinds, you’ll want to check your window and its frame. The depth of your window frame will dictate the best way to mount your blinds. If you want your blinds to sit inside the window frame flush with the window molding, you’ll need anywhere from 1 to 4 inches of depth inside the frame. While you can mount horizontal or vertical blinds inside or outside the frame, the most common types are inside-mount horizontal blinds designed for small- to medium-sized windows or outside-mounted blinds for large windows or sliding doors. Measuring blinds only takes a few minutes, but if you’re still unsure, many of the blinds on Overstock.com have a professional installation option available.
